Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

The following urgent appeal to the German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel – at present also holding the EU-Presidency and the Presidency of the G8 – was sent to us by Dr. Yvonne Schmidt, an international law expert of Graz, who asks us to publicise it as widely as possible. We gladly follow this request and add the wording.

Remember that Iran is a member state of the Nuclear Weapons Non Proliferation Treaty and like any European or any other state has the right to use nuclear power for civilian purposes.

Remember, how we have been dragged into one war after the other by means of lies by the USA, the one remaining superpower since the opening of the “iron curtain”:

The First Gulf War

The witness to the incubator-story in Kuwait (the girl that was all tears when she told the world how she witnessed Saddam Hussein's soldiers taking babies out of their incubators and letting them die on the cold floor) was the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador to the US and had never been inside a Kuwaiti hospital.

The War against Yugoslavia

That war started with lies and lies were continually produced whenever required. Ruder Finn Public Relations, a US-firm for political lobbying and one of the largest communication firms in the world with offices and affiliates world wide is proud of having found the right spin right from the start in the early nineties. (In an interview with Jacques Merlino, France2, James Harff, director of Ruder Finn, frankly admitted, that his firm had produced false reports, in favour of the Croats, the Bosnian Moslems and later the Albanians in Kosovo). Then followed lie after lie - about Racak, about the “Hufeisenplan” (horse-shoe-plan), etc. etc.

As to Nine Eleven

there is extensive literature available containing evidence that Nine Eleven was a "home-made" disaster. As for Europe see: Daniele Ganser: http://www.danieleganser.ch/interviews/index.htm . The consequence was the arbitrary assault on Afghanistan – a murderous war, that by now has been lasting as long as World War II.

Then followed Gulf War II

It was US-Secretary of State Colin Powell, who presented a dossier of lies about the would be WMD to the UN and once again the international community was bamboozled. The dossier went to the waste paper basket and Colin Powell stepped down. The war, however, that had been justified on the grounds of that false dossier, has now become so murderous on the part of the Western cartel and all its private factions including Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo that it will take some forthcoming generations until the country will have recovered.

Iraq was one of the countries with the most advanced alphabetisation in the region and its health system was highly developed. Without the Western sanctions, which had been undermining the country for almost 13 years, this development would have gone ahead. The whole Third World know awfully well what happened to Iraq and will never forget and forgive it.

Next Gaza prison

The illegal wall in the west-bank, the CIA produced swindle about the “rival” groups, one of them financed by the US; the Israeli assault on Lebanon that produced a devastating legacy:

No insight, no rationality, so that even the father of the project “Eurasia”, Zbigniew Brzezinski, warns the West against wading further into this war. Obviously , the actual media reports concerning Iran are all preparations for an attack on the country.

For days now evidence has been accumulating that the USA are  not only marshalling their seventh fleet in the Persian Gulf, but that further aircraft carriers are on their way to Iran, as well. A war against Iran will have catastrophic effects on the region and on the people living there. But not only the people there will be affected. The effects of modern weapons (uranium weapons for example) will be felt all over the world; so it is about the future of mankind as such.

We urgently request you to do everything possible in your surroundings to work towards preventing this war of aggression against Iran. The Security Council not having shown enough steadfastness, the civil societies and the governments of the countries must think about new ways of protest and bundle their forces. The behaviour of the US means a flagrant violation of international law and international conventions as well as an endangering of world peace to the highest degree.

We teeter on the edge of a nuclear war. The arsenal of new weapons, including thermobaric weapons and uranium weapons that do not form a mushroom cloud, but otherwise produce temperatures up to 5000 degrees, nonetheless cause radioactive contamination of our globe: The winds distribute the nano-particles all around the world. On behalf of the living people and the generations to come: Stop this planned aggression in concert with all those desiring peace. The rest of ongoing hot wars must come to an end.

Open Letter Mrs. Federal Chancellor and EU Council President, Angela Merkel

Dear Mrs. Federal Chancellor and EU Council President

We, the undersigned of this open letter are turning to you with the urgent request to do anything in your power to prevent a US war against Iran.

Everything points to an impending comprehensive aerial war against Iran waged by the United States of America. Studies of the International Crisis Group show that an attack would not be confined to the destruction of nuclear facilities alone. The aircraft carriers Stennis and Eisenhower have already been stationed in front of Iran's shores and according to The Guardian of February 10th there is a third aircraft carrier on its way to the Persian Gulf.

Those three aircraft carriers and their formations are equipped with weapons, sufficient to completely wipe out all military and civil infrastructure of Iran, including bridges, highways, power plants, refineries and water supply facilities.

To protect US warships against Iranian missiles, Patriot rockets have been installed in the South of Iraq. With alarming appeals renowned experts such as Sam Gardiner, Seymour Hersh and Daniel Elsberg have been warning for many weeks against a new war of the US-Administration. On February 4th three former commanders of the US military spoke up in the Sunday Times to warn most urgently against the disastrous consequences of an air strike. A similar warning was expressed by former NATO commander-in-chief Wesley Clarke in Munich.

The New York Times of 9th of February is bluntly supplying some pretexts for the attack on Iran by holding Iran responsible for the death of 170 US-soldiers in Iraq. No one less than Zbiniew Brzezinski turned against the distribution of such pretexts. Early in February he warned President Bush at the US-Senate's Foreign Affairs Committee not to make up fake evidence for a "defensive" military action against Iran. The situation today reminds us of the false propaganda during the months prior to the Iraq war. Unfortunately there are no indications that the US-President is working towards a diplomatic solution. He declines the dialogue with Iran in spite of the recommendations of the Baker Commission. His permanent protestations that he would prefer a diplomatic solution just serve  to cheating the American people as well as the Europeans.  It seems, that within the political leadership of the United States those have succeeded, who are determined to eliminate the regime of the Islamic Republic and want to bomb the Iran back into a completely irrelevant political factor in the region by the destruction not only of its nuclear facilities but also of all its military and relevant economic capacities. If this actually happens, the entire region of the Middle East will tumble into chaos, which will cause a major threat for peace in the world - not to mention the political and economic effects for the world, last not least also for Germany. With his insane war plans the US-President is acting against the majority of the Americans as well as against many of his own party. In our opinion, there is no political and moral legitimacy whatsoever for any further co-operation with Bush in the Iran conflict since any such co-operation would be understood as  consenting to his aggression plans.

Dear Mrs. Merkel we ask you to act because danger is looming. Do prevent this war! Otherwise Germany and the European Union could be made responsible for a disaster of unthinkable dimensions.

- Declare an unmistakable refusal to military aggression against Iran in the name of Germany.

- Demand the EU and its member states to express themselves accordingly. 

- Speak out in favour of new negotiations with the Iranian leaders without preconditions but on the legal basis of the Non-Proliferation-Treaty.

Stand up for a Conference of Security and Co-operation in the Middle East to begin as early as possible, in order to start the peaceful dialogue in the region. Either there is a common solution for the actual conflicts in the region or there will be a fire storm, chaos and new calamity for the whole of mankind.

Hoping that peace can be secured through the efforts from many sides we remain

Mesdames et Messieurs,

L’appel urgent ci-joint adressé à la Chancelière fédérale allemande Angela Merkel, actuelle présidente de l’Union européenne et du G8, nous a été envoyé par Mme Yvonne Schmidt, spécialiste en droit international, de Graz (Autriche), qui nous prié de lui donner l’audience la plus large possible.

Souvenez-vous que l’Iran est membre du Traité de non-prolifération nucléaire et qu’il a le droit, comme tous les autres pays, d’utiliser l’énergie nucléaire à des fins civiles.

Souvenez vous que depuis la disparition du rideau de fer, les Etats-Unis, unique superpuissance restante, ont abreuvé le monde de mensonges:

Première guerre du Golfe

Le prétendu témoin de l’histoire des couveuses du Koweït (une jeune fille en larmes racontait au monde entier que des soldats de Saddam Hussein retiraient des bébés de leurs couveuses et les laissaient mourir sur le sol) était une fille de l’ambassadeur du Koweït aux Etats-Unis qui n’avait jamais mis les pieds dans un hôpital koweïtien.

 Guerre des Balkans

Elle a commencé et s’est poursuivie avec des mensonges.

Une des plus grandes firmes de relations publiques, la société américaine Ruder Finn, qui a des succursales dans le monde entier et est spécialisée dans le lobbying politique, s’enorgueillit d’avoir trouvé une bonne astuce au début des années 1990: lors d’une interview accordée à Jacques Merlino de France 2, James Harff, directeur de Ruder Finn, avoua sans détours que sa société avait produit de faux rapports en faveur des Croates, des musulmans bosniaques et, plus tard, des Albanais du Kosovo. Puis il y eut les deux mensonges concernant Racak et le «plan Fer à cheval».

11-Septembre 2001

Il existe une abondante littérature aux Etats-Unis qui montre que ce fut une catastrophe «faite maison» (à ce sujet, cf. http://www.danieleganser.ch/interviews/index.htm). Cet événement résulta dans l’agression illégale contre l’Afghanistan, guerre meurtrière dont la durée égale déjà celle de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Seconde guerre du Golfe

Le ministre américain des Affaires étrangères de l’époque, Colin Powell, présenta aux Nations unies un dossier mensonger sur de prétendues armes de destruction massive. Une nouvelle fois, on trompait l’opinion mondiale avec un dossier bon à mettre au panier. Colin Powell finit par démissionner. Mais la guerre que les mensonges permirent de justifier, menée par les Etats-Unis et leurs alliés en association avec des troupes privées, sans oublier Abou Ghraib et Guantánamo, a pris une ampleur si destructrice et si meurtrière qu’il faudra des générations pour que l’Irak s’en remette.

Auparavant, ce pays était fortement alphabétisé et possédait un système de santé très développé. Si les sanctions occidentales ne l’avaient pas déjà affaibli pendant 13 années, ce développement se serait poursuivi. Le tiers-monde dans son entier n’oubliera ni ne pardonnera jamais cela.

Mentionnons également la bande de Gaza, véritable prison, le Mur de séparation illégal en Cisjordanie, le mensonge propagé par la CIA sur les factions «rivales», dont l’une est financée par les Etats-Unis, la guerre d’agression d’Israël contre le Liban, qui a causé une terrible dévastation dans le sud du pays.

Tout cela traduit un tel manque de lucidité que même le père du projet «Eurasie», Zbigniew Brzezinski, met en garde contre un prolongement de ces guerres qui constituent autant d’étapes dans les préparatifs d’attaque contre l’Iran.

En effet, de nombreux indices montrent que les Etats-Unis non seulement préparent leur 7^e Flotte dans le Golfe mais que de nouveaux porte-avions sont en route vers l’Iran. Une guerre contre ce pays aurait des répercussions catastrophiques non seulement sur toute la région et ses habitants mais dans le monde entier à cause des effets des armes modernes (p. ex. les armes à l’uranium). Il y va donc de l’avenir de l’humanité tout entière.

Nous vous demandons instamment de faire tout votre possible pour empêcher cette guerre d’agression contre l’Iran. Comme le Conseil de sécurité ne s’est pas montré assez ferme avant et pendant les guerres déclenchées par les Etats-Unis, les sociétés civiles et les gouvernements nationaux doivent associer leurs forces pour imaginer de nouvelles formes de protestations. Le comportement des Etats-Unis constitue une violation patente du droit international et des conventions internationales et met gravement en danger la paix dans le monde.

Nous sommes au bord d’une guerre nucléaire. L’arsenal d’armes nouvelles, dont les armes thermobariques et à l’uranium, qui ne produisent pas de champignon atomique mais tout de même des températures allant jusqu’à 5000 degrés, entraînent une contamination de la planète: sous l’effet des vents, les nanoparticules sont disséminées sur tout le globe.

Au nom de notre génération et des générations futures, nous vous demandons de vous associer à toutes les personnes soucieuses de sauvegarder la paix en vous opposant à l’agression en préparation et en exigeant qu’il soit mis fin aux guerres en cours.

Lettre ouverte

Madame la Chancelière fédérale et Présidente de l’Union européenne,

Nous soussignés nous adressons à vous pour vous demander de faire tout votre possible afin d’empêcher une attaque de l’Iran par les Etats-Unis.

Tout laisse penser qu’une guerre aérienne de grande ampleur des Etats-Unis contre l’Iran est imminente. Des études de l’International Crisis Group montrent que l’attaque ne se limiterait pas à la destruction d’installations nucléaires. Les porte-avions Stennis et Eisenhower sont déjà stationnés au large des côtes iraniennes. Selon le Guardian du 10 février, un troisième porte-avions est en route pour le golfe Persique. Ces trois bâtiments et leurs navires d’escorte disposent d’armes en quantité suffisante pour détruire la totalité de l’infrastructure militaire et civile de l’Iran dont les ponts, les autoroutes, les centrales électriques, les raffineries et les usines de distribution d’eau. Pour parer à l’attaque des bâtiments de guerre américains par des missiles iraniens, des missiles Patriot ont été installés dans le sud de l’Irak.

Depuis plusieurs semaines, des experts réputés tels que Sam Gardiner, Seymour Hersh et Daniel Elsbert lancent des appels contre une nouvelle guerre du gouvernement des Etats-Unis. Le 4 février, trois anciens commandants de l’armée américaine ont mis en garde avec insistance, dans le Sunday Times, contre les conséquences catastrophiques d’une agression armée. Wesley Clarke, ancien commandant en chef des forces de l’OTAN, s’est exprimé dans le même sens à Munich.

Le 9 février, le New York Times a déjà fait état de prétextes à une attaque contre l’Iran. Les Etats-Unis rendent l’Iran responsable de la mort de 170 soldats américains en Irak. Zbigniew Brzezinski en personne s’est élevé contre la propagation de tels prétextes. Début février, devant la Commission des affaires étrangères du Sénat, il a mis en garde le président Bush contre la tentative de fabriquer des preuves pour justifier une action militaire «défensive» contre l’Iran. La situation actuelle rappelle les mensonges proférés dans les mois qui précédèrent la guerre en Irak. Malheureusement, rien n’indique que le président américain recherche une solution diplomatique. Malgré les recommandations de la commission Baker, il refuse le dialogue avec l’Iran. Le fait qu’il ne cesse de répéter qu’il préfère la voie diplomatique ne sert qu’à tromper le peuple américain et les Européens. Il semble qu’au sein du gouvernement se soient imposés ceux qui sont décidés à faire tomber le régime de la République islamiste d’Iran et, en bombardant non seulement ses installations nucléaires mais aussi ses forces armées et son potentiel économique, à faire en sorte qu’elle deviennent une puissance insignifiante dans la région.

Si ces projets sont effectivement réalisés, toute la région du Moyen et du Proche-Orient sera plongée dans un chaos qui représentera un énorme danger pour la paix dans le monde, sans parler des graves conséquences politiques et économiques globales, et notamment en Allemagne.

Avec ses projets belliqueux insensés, le président américain agit à l’encontre de la majorité des Américains, et même de beaucoup de membres de son propre parti. Toute collaboration future avec Bush dans le conflit iranien est à notre avis totalement dépourvue de légitimité politique et morale et ne peut être comprise que comme une approbation de ses projets d’agression.

Comme il y a péril en la demeure, nous vous prions, Madame la Chancelière fédérale, de tout faire pour empêcher cette guerre. Il faut absolument éviter que l’Allemagne et l’Union européenne ne soient rendues responsables d’un désastre d’une ampleur inimaginable.

-  Refusez sans équivoque, au nom de l’Allemagne, le recours à la force militaire contre l’Iran.

-  Demandez à l’Union européenne et à ses Etats membres de se prononcer de la même manière.

-  Engagez-vous en faveur de nouvelles négociations avec le gouvernement iranien sans conditions préalables et en respectant la base légale du Traité de non-prolifération nucléaire.

-  Employez-vous à ce qu’une conférence sur la sécurité et la coopération au Moyen et au Proche-Orient soit bientôt mise en place afin d’y engager un dialogue de paix. En effet, si l’on ne trouve pas de solution commune aux conflits actuels de cette région, il en résultera un embrasement qui sera un désastre pour l’humanité.

Dans l’espoir que les nombreux efforts de paix aboutiront, nous vous prions de croire, Madame la Chancelière fédérale et Présidente de l’Union européenne, à l’expression de nos sentiments respectueux.
