Onze website wil behalve een bron van strikt
academische informatie
en kennisoverdracht
tevens een aanleiding zijn voor maatschappelijk debat. Het organiseren
en coördineren
van maatschappelijke discussies is een essentiële opdracht voor een
instelling
die een pluralistische visie op maatschappelijk werk hanteert.
Onderscheid
tussen 'propaganda' en 'informatie' is, onvermijdelijk, telkens in
mindere of
meerdere mate politiek gemotiveerd. Het maken van dergelijke
distincties behoort niet tot onze taak.
Complementair aan de (soms eenzijdige) weergave ervan in de media,
probeert de website
recht te doen aan het palet van in de samenleving aanwezige
overtuigingen, en
juist op die
manier objectief te informeren. We zijn ervan overtuigd dat letterlijk
geen enkel bericht of bewering op onze website op algemene consensus
kan rekenen.
Wie niet akkoord gaat met de op de website geplaatste
informatie kan, mits hij/zij enkele elementaire regels van
"wellevendheid"
in acht neemt, in alle vrijheid en openheid reageren bij de Webmaster.
We zien niet in hoe
we door aldus te handelen op enigerlei wijze aan 'politieke propaganda'
zouden doen.

Our web site aims to supply academic and
scientific informations, but it is explicitly not restricted to that
task. The
site aspires as well to supply a critical forum for social and public
debate. In
our view, the organisation and coordination of public discussions does
constitute an essential part of the social mission of an institution
claiming to
work within a pluralistic view on social activities. Distinctions made
between 'propaganda'
and 'information' are always politically motivated, and making that
kind of
distinctions clearly does not belong to our responsibilities. On the
contrary,
the web site aims to present a broad spectrum of different views, this
plurality
being precisely the way to supply objective information. We are quite
convinced
that there is not a single communication on our site which can claim
absolute unanimity.
Whoever does not agree with the information placed on the web
site, is invited to react in all openness to the webmaster (while
respecting some
elementary rules in civility). While protesting against any
kind of anonymous slander that does not dare to show its true face, we
cannot
see in what manner we would thus have recourse to 'political
propaganda'.
